La Fonte Passata is made with selected round tomatoes varieties, grown in sunny and fertile Central and Southern Italy. These tomatoes are at their full ripening between the summer months of August and September when they are harvested, attentively sorted, sieved, and cooked with a pinch of salt at low temperature into a smooth sauce with rich texture and bright red colour.
La Fonte Passata is made from fresh tomatoes, no concentrate. It is made with no sugar, no sweeteners added, and it is free from artificial flavours, thickeners, or firming agents.

Good to know: The Italian word passata means “passed through” as people used to make this smooth sauce by passing through a sieve whole peeled tomatoes.
